I am impressed by Nannerl's story and by what Marie Lu has done with it. Plucking someone from history that has all but been forgotten and breathing life into their story. The story was enchanting, it captures the imagination and invites you on a journey to a far away place. Lu expertly captures the sensation of a faded song lingering in one's memory, hauntingly echoing in one's mind. There is a sense of loss while reading Nannerl's story, because you already know that her wish to be remembered for her music never came true. The dynamics though between her and her brother were realistic and heartfelt, Lu portrays sibling dynamics and rivalry brilliantly. This book was very well done and did not disappoint.
