I vaguely remember reading and enjoying some of her other books, but other than that I remember no specifics. I am going to trust that my memory of those books being good is correct though, because The Kingdom of Back was a wonderful read.

I am a sucker for books and stories about child prodigies, real and fictional. I am also a bit of a sucker for historical fiction, and this book had a bit of both. I had high expectations going into this, and it did not disappoint!

Nannerl Mozart, the focus of this book, feels so real. She has dreams, and talent, and societal laws to follow, unfortunately enough. Her wish: to be remembered forever.

This book was an impressively enjoyable read, and I hope that everyone at the very least gives this book a shot. Heartwarming, emotional, chock full of incredible characters, this book is an excellent read. It’s a story about chasing your dreams and ambitions, about being forbidden from the thing you love. It’s a story of hope, and a story of discovery.
