I know you aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but sometimes I do purchase one because of it. The cover of this book was just lovely, and sometimes that is important. The plot isn't bad, but I do think it is a little slow-moving.

The main character is the older sister of Wolfgang Mozart, and the story begins when he is just a child. Our main character. Nanerl, wants desperately to please her father and become a musical child prodigy. She is very talented...but not as impressive as her little brother, who can memorize and compose music practically before he can write his name. All she wants is to be remembered and help her family, and one day she gets the chance from Hyacinth, the mysterious magical prince from the world of Back.

In one of those fairy tale, too good to be true, I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine, Hyacinth promises to make her dreams come try, if she will do some him a series of favors.

Pros: It is a different fantasy story, and I do like that the author wrote a stand alone novel in a time when we get so many cliffhangers and series. The book has a dreamy quality of itself, with a bit of a surprise at the ending. There is a good message of women being able to do all kinds of things, even if society hasn't always believed it to be true.

Cons: I don't love any of the characters, except maybe little Mozart. The ending is bittersweet, and it is a slowburn. I would like a fantasy novel to have a little more punch.
