This books takes place in a desert with a great magic system. The main character, Zahru gets herself into a situation and has to try and get herself out of it without trusting anyone. Especially the three heirs that are all vying for the throne. The author did a great job on having the reader not trusting anyone either. This book had me loving every single character. The title was perfect for the message portrayed from this novel and I loved how the author did that. It was probably one of the best ones I've seen in a long time. It kind of reminded me of the Cinderella story even though this story is not a Cinderella retelling.
One of the main reasons why I loved this book so much was the writing style. It was very easy to read and kept me from putting it down. Once I started it I couldn't get myself to stop. And the imagination in this novel was great! I loved the glass boat! And the author did a great job on having my heart strings pulled in every which way. I loved both love interests and I don't think that has ever happened to me before. I'm rooting for both of them. I also loved how the author put in what would happen if it was a fairytale story and how it wasn't the case and that Zahru had to pretend it wasn't.
