The Kinder Poison by Natalie Mae is a YA fantasy novel about a young girl named Zahru, with the ability to talk to animals. Which might seem great and all, but in Zahru's world, her ability puts her in lowest ranks of society. Despite this fact, Zahru wishes to rise above the rest, and see more than just her small corner of the world. But everything turns awry when her plan to sneak into the palace ends deadly, as she is chosen to be a sacrifice to the gods. All while trying to delicately balance her life between two princes fueled by lies, and potential death.

Mae's book is unlike any other I have read, as it reels you in with the gorgeous cover and vague description, and refuses to let you go as you're lead through with plot twist after plot twist. UNTIL the last line leaves you reeling, and demanding book two.

Highly recommend, to anyone looking for a book that will possibly keep you up late into the night.
