The Kinder Poison was quite a good book, in my opinion! I immediately fell in love with the characters, who all have unique detailing the author has really thought through. The book lightly explores deeper themes such as self worth, war, and politics (relating to the plot and setting) while not going too deep into it as to cloud the story. This book was not marketed as a romance novel and I felt it stayed true to that, with the right amount of tension between Zahru and Jet to stay focused on and add to the storyline. The only discrepancy I personally found within the book were some instances when it felt like the author added in scenes or plot twists that didn’t completely fit with the foreshadowing or subtext, but I mainly overlooked these, as the rest of the story was very gripping, entertaining, and overall very enjoyable to the reader!
