First of all, thank you to Bookish First adn Razorbill for an ARC of Kinder Posion!

Hen is becoming a Master Materialist, but Zahru is just a Whisperer, with the magic to speak to animals. The Mestrah is dying, and for the first time in decades, the Mestrah has called for The Crossing, a race between the heirs for the honor of Mestrah. Hen sneaks Zahru into the banquet for The Crossing by using her mother's name, only problem? Her mother was a Master. Which means Zahru is now eligible to become a first for one of the three heirs.

As if it couldn't get any worse, Zahru asks a nearby guard about the food at the first banquet, only to discover he's Prince Jet, and when Prince Kasta sees Zahru, he sets his sights no further.

Honestly, this book wasn't even on my radar, and I traded for the ARC and FELL IN LOVE. Everything about this book is evenly paced, nothing lags. We get all sorts of characters and back story, and I felt that none of the characters or story fell flat to me! The romance is there throughout, and despite there being a small love triangle, it's so. Well. Done. Like, I rooted for both rmances at some point.

The first in this series (duology?) Kinder Poison was a wonderful surprise, a quick read, and an action-packed, unique YA fantasy! Out June 16th.
