This is a fast paced adventure filled with a magical race, sibling rivalry, and political intrigue. Family dynamics plays a large portion of this story, which I found to be really interesting. Here we have three siblings that are racing across a desert. The first to cross the finish line must complete a sacrifice in order to take their place as rightful ruler. This definitely reminded me a lot of Hidalgo meets Stardust.
Onto the world building. I thought it was really well done and intricate. When it comes to the magic, some of the magic was pretty ordinary at best, but there were some individual abilities that I found really fascinating.
Overall, this is a good start to the series, and I’m definitely intrigued to see what happens next.
