The cover for The Kinder Poison is pretty. The purple is nice and the gold really pops out on the cover. The scorpion on the front also works nicely with the desert setting of Zahru's home. The first look was well written and kept me scrolling until that "what will happen next?" ending. I think that the concept in this story sort of sets it apart from other YA fantasy that I've read as of late. Yes there are people vying for a crown, but I sort of like the race and sacrifice concept. Sort of elevates the standard "thrones" plot/trope. Zahru will end up being a sacrifice, maybe a pawn between the heirs as well, and I think it will be interesting to read how she escapes her unwanted fate.
