To start off, the cover of The Kinder Poison is simple but with the bright contrasting colors it drew me in! As I started reading I was surprised to realize that I was able to look past the first person point of view(that p.o.v is usually a miss for me) and that I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style. It is descriptive and appeals to all of my senses. I could feel the cool stones against my bare feet as Zahru and Hen were walking along the streets as well as all of the different vibrant clothing pieces and enticing smells. The story itself is such an interesting concept! Usually with books where people have use of magic they never have simpler magics such as Zahru's animal whispering so I appreciated that refreshing take! I feel like the rest of the book is going to be even better as it goes on, and I have hope for the best for Zahru's fate.
