Neither the plot, nor beginning pages are appealing to me, unfortunately

I was not necessarily interested in the novel by its plot or similarity to another author whose novels I do not read. I did give the sample a shot, as sometimes one can be surprised- actually many times, one can be surprised when they begin reading something that doesn't initially seem appealing. Having said that, however, my mind was not changed and I feel even less inclined to read it. It did not begin in a way that drew me in and ultimately had too much dialogue right from the beginning for my taste.
