Michael Crichton, for sure, Dan Brown I hope. the sneak peak of this book grabs you with potential. potential interesting female lead, interesting jerk boss, interesting aliens (or perhaps our ancestors) with a problem...Oh! For suspense, action, and I hope skillful thinking and writing. realistic - unrealities, plausible - implausibilities the first 29 pages left me wanting and hoping for more!
The setup? an oil exploration ship scanning the Mariana trench 7 miles down..no oil but a regular pattern not explained by natural occurrences. what is it why is it down there. on the other side why are things aboard the "ship" the way they are. I hope to find out. this kind of setup can lead to a straight ahead suspenseful action story, I have hope that a solid science and fiction are married in this book!
