Well for starters the only reason I began with four stars on review is because its only two chapters and an intro, meaning I feel like eventually this will be a five star review. The story had me at the introduction, by the end of the first paragraph really. The first two chapters have really set up the tale for me. I would gladly have kept reading right from the start, I'm that intrigued by the characters and the mystery.
The authors writing style is smooth and pretty well paced. So far. Two chapters, remember? But, honestly it feels like we are off to a great start here as there are not too many characters introduced too soon to keep up with and the dialog feels natural and has some momentum going. Some times dialog can feel stilted or slow moving, you know? Not here, moves nicely along, with each speaker clearly identified. All that is well and good, but, the real attraction here is the concept hinted at in this little preview. Something is down there (we all knew it would be, right?) and its been held in place all these eons to keep it there. That appears about to change. Utt Oh.
