I usually really like space opera and alien sci-fi books but this one didn't really grab me. I don't know if it was the writing style or what, but I felt like the 20-odd page excerpt I read was so much longer than that, and I wasn't really intrigued until a good halfway through, which is longer than I would usually give for a book that I would just pick up in a bookstore based on the cover, since I don't recognize this author. It's an intriguing premise that I'm sure will be enjoyable for some readers, but it's just not my thing, I guess.
