Victim POV chapter intriguing, rest of novel is average detective story

The cover is too generic and doesn’t draw me in. The story is OK so far. I hope the full book returns to the girls’ POV throughout, and doesn’t just leave it as a single chapter at the beginning. Plot seems engaging but not particularly unique when it comes to detective stories.
