I have finished this book and am very angry and confused. I have no idea if I’m missing things because they were covered in the podcast or what, but this book is really unacceptable in its omissions.
As the book got started i was a little annoyed by how focused on the romance it was, but i was very into the intense emotional analysis and descriptions and sort of paranormal stuff, so i went along with it. I kept waiting for some Stranger Things kind of stuff to happen or something like that. Well, if that’s what you’re looking for, do not pick this book up. This book is just a romance from beginning to end.
But it’s more frustrating than that because the author continued to hint that there were other Atypicals in the world and introduced some of them but for no real purpose. There was a completely forced friendship for which no context was provided - just all of a sudden we go from meeting to hanging out regularly. It’s like there was all of this ramp up to something big going on and then..was that really all she was going for here? In the last third of the story i felt like i was reading a book where whole chapters had been ripped out. Why?!
