I’ve been attached to Adam and Caleb for a very long time, so I already love them. However, even in book format they come across as very lovable and flawed characters, so I believe even those who haven’t listened to the podcast will fall in love with them. I also enjoyed seeing more of Caitlyn as Adam’s friend and Caleb’s not crush. She was a character I think many perfectionists in school will relate to.
I especially enjoyed Caleb’s description of emotion, how he handles them, and how Adam’s emotions feel in comparison to others’ emotions. Reading how Caleb handles Adam’s depression was interesting to read. Above all, I have to say I loved the description of how having a crush and being in love felt in this book. Even though I am not in love, this book made me feel as if I was at times.
This book as a very teenage voice, which works well with these characters. My main problem with this is that occasionally the book had lines that felt “fanficcy” or too angsty. These lines are most of what made me drop my rating.
After reading this book, I feel like I know more about my favorite boys than I did before I started reading. I am sure this endearing love story that deals with many important issues will be a hit among fans and newcomers alike. :)
