It was alright
Had there been zero vulgarity, this book would have been 5 stars for me.
The book starts out with a graphic description of a young girl coming of age. There are ways to depict that without it being so hyper-sexual and off-putting.
Later, another character's sexual preference is disgusted. That ue prefers men over women isn't the issue, again it's the hyper-sexual way that his preference is depicted.
These two instances seemed contradictory to the personality of the characters. They're so innocent. They're afraid of a phony gypsy and dutiful to their mother, but then so sexualized.
It's like there's a pervert intermittently and jarringly making interjections into what is, otherwise, a really amazing story.
I'm enthralled by the siblings. I want to know of the gypsy was right. I feel like I'll always wonder what their story was because they've captured my interest, but I won't ever know because I can't stomach the vulgarity!
