The Immortalists was a most interesting book. All four Gold children are likeable, well-written, and have some form of character arc (not always for the better). The most interesting to me would be Klara's, the Las Vegas magician. Her story of false magic, real magic, and death truly resonated deep and calls all to them. Of course, Varya cannot be overlooked either. Her reclusive nature and obsessive calorie counting lead to the most interesting idea that humans could live forever if only they are willing to give up one of the major things that makes life worth living-delicious, high calorie food. This story ties together four children who start out together, leave each other again and again, and gai, incredible insight of themselves and each other at an altogether too early age. It is a story of how too much knowledge can be a terrible thing.
