The Hiding Girl is the story of Emily Calby, a twelve year old girl who witnesses her mother and sister's brutal murders at the hands of two men, barely escaping from their grasp. Bent on revenge, Emily disappears and tries to track them down. Along the way, she meets a man named Lucas, who takes her under his wing and helps train her for the inevitable.
This book rocked me. It was fast paced and action packed, and I really liked Emily's journey throughout the book. I honestly didn't anticipate enjoying it so much, as there are a lot of gory details expected in these types of stories, but Emily's motivation and drive were inspiring in a twisted sort of way. I loved the relationship between Lucas and Emily- two characters who could not be more different, but came together in unlikely circumstances to create a sort of family.
