This book had a unique story line that quickly drew me in. A young girl, Emily, is home with her sister and mother when some criminals show up and end up killing the mother and sister and burning the house down. Emily manages to escape and from that point on she is on the run as she doesn’t want to go into foster care and figures everyone will think she died too.
There is a lot of action and it is interesting to see where Emily goes as she tries to find a place she can be safe and start a new life. She meets many people along the way, some that help her and some that are not good for her. I wanted to see what was happening and it made the book go by fairly quick. The only issue I had is that I felt that a 12 year old wouldn’t be that mature.
