He was expecting an ex military man screwed over by the government. Instead he gets a 12 year old runaway with a sad history and a troubled future.
This book was incredibly good and I easily give it a 5 star review. The characters are well developed and likable. The relationship that builds between Emily and Lucas is rough but heart warming in its own way.
I was a little skeptical of Emily's age at first, as 12 seems unbelievable for the story, but that was my only concern. This was a fast page read that I finished in two days. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
