I feel like we got more of a surface-level mask of the main character rather than a genuine personality in this opening section - the wise-cracking thief out on a job. There were some hints of character development to come, such as why they were so disturbed by the idea of physical affection beyond kissing, but the somewhat explicit descriptions of sex between (presumably) side characters makes me wary of the rest of the book, as that's not really what I'm looking for in my sci-fi.
