This was a pretty enjoyable young adult ghost story. While the characters could have been more developed it was a quick read that kept my focus easily. The story wasn’t full of any shocking twists but it was a well told ghost story that did have a couple of pretty creepy points. The main character, Hendricks, and her family have left the city for a small town and an old house her parents are going to flip. They’re moving to give Hendricks a clean slate from a past event that is only teased about and drawn out until it got old. Hendricks starts to hear and see suspicious things that eventually lead to her to believe her new home is haunted. Hendricks described herself in the beginning as having been on a campaign against cliches but I have to admit that Hendricks and the new kids she meets at school are nothing but cliches. I’ll be looking up more books by Danielle Vega, this was a good young adult horror story.
