Is it just me or does YA just keep getting better? After that Haunting prologue that I’ll probably never get out of my mind, The Haunted by Danielle Vega starts off innocently enough - a girl (Hendricks) moves to a new town for a fresh start, but things quickly become creepy and gruesome.

This book prays on ghostly fears that become a reality for Hendricks. Her days become nightmares and she doesn’t seem to have anyone to turn to for help, since she may have PTSD. Is she hallucinating or is she really seeing ghosts of the past? It becomes somewhat of a psychological thriller when not even the main character can understand what is going on in her own home.

I have to say, I am really good at catching things and figuring out endings long before they happen, but I did NOT see that coming! I was shocked. And the epilogue? I may have cried a bit and held the book to my heart.
