This is a young adult horror novel that unfortunately suffered from all the tropes of the genre. Despite being classified as horror, the majority of this novel read like a contemporary story. The main character was more worried about making friends and fitting in than the strange occurrences happening in her own home and instead of telling anyone about them, she bottles it all up inside. The romance , which included a dreaded love triangle, just felt unnecessary. The cliche brooding bad boy dressed all in black...ugh.

This definitely is mild on the creep factor, and the story is fast moving which earns it points but beware of of all the many cringy cliches.

I've heard the Merciless series is much better so I do plan on reading more by Vega!
