Dark YA is having a moment, and it definitely seems like The Haunted is a worthwhile addition to the 2019 release roster. I like the diverse crew that we start getting to know right away, and Hendricks is a fascinating MC that I want to cheer for. Most importantly, though, Vega is rocking it with the horror suspense. From the get-go, each chapter glows with the awful "something horrible is going to happen, and SOON" vibe. This is a book I would have to be very careful to plan around reading only during the daytime so I don't get too creeped out!
