The cover did not catch my attention due to the muted colors. I understand the design after reading the synopsis, but it wouldn't have drawn my eye in a bookstore.

The synopsis sounds mildly entertaining. I'm not a big fan of the genre, but I can usually be persuaded by a romantic subplot and a picturesque setting.

The choppily-written prologue was a turn-off for me. Books that are written in this manner always take an adjustment period to become comfortable with the writing style. The first chapter is written much more fluidly, but if this style is to be used intermittently throughout the book, I can't say that I'm excited to read any further.
