I’m a big fan of this author and jumped at the option to read this excerpt. The story is told from the perspective of two sisters, Kate and Lauren. Both are in marriages that are experiencing some challenges. There also appears to be some tension between the sisters. Though the family is not particularly close, they meet for weekly Sunday lunch. Jess, the half sister comes to the house in search of her father Harry during a Sunday lunch. This scene is strange as Simon, Lauren’s husband allows a stranger in who is asking for Harry, Lauren and Kate’s father who has been deceased for a year.
The pacing is slow and the section I read did not read like a thriller. I found the characters interesting and the background interesting. It made me want to read more about the characters to see where the story would go.
