I think I would actually rate this book as more of a 3.5, but I rounded up to 4. It was pretty slow for the most part. I was intrigued by the mystery of if Jess was actually the half sister to Kate and Lauren, and what her motives were. I liked that the perspective switched between Lauren and Kate, so you can see what each one is dealing with in their own lives and how Jess showing up affects them. Some aspects of the book irritated me. Mainly, I felt like a lot of the problems between the characters could have been resolved if they just communicated with each other. Especially between Lauren and Kate. I understand that some things needed to remain secret to add to the mystery of the book and even sisters keep secrets from each other, but I just kept wanting them to tell each other what they found out about Jess. I wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery behind Jess, is she actually their half sister, who’s her real mom, etc. But the book wasn’t very thrilling or suspenseful until the very end.
