After reading The Other Woman by this same author and feeling only lukewarm about it, I was hesitant going in to this most recent read The Half Sister.

Immediately, the reader can tell there is some family tension. The death of their father has Kate feeling like an outsider in her own family as her mother much prefers older sister Lauren, maybe it has to do with the grandkids she's provided, something Kate is so desperate for and struggling to make a reality. But Lauren has secrets of her own, like her marriage that isn't all it appears to be.

So, when a women arrives at their door one sunday delivering news that she's their half sister their secrets start to tear them apart. This novel is certainly an improvement from the start as the author seems most comfortable in the family drama.
