Growing up with a sibling means learning to live with a dynamic that is consistently inconsistent. One day, you can be best friends, and suddenly, three years later, you look back and realize that you were "best friends" in title only. And so many siblings are shocked to find out that, despite living every day with someone, they don't know that person at all.

Even more shocking than finding out you don't know your sibling is to find out you have a sibling you didn't know existed! That is what happens over one Sunday lunch, when Kate and Lauren find themselves staring into the face of Jess, the half-sister they never knew they had. At least, so Jess claims. In the midst of their personal trials, each woman will have to decide just how important family is to them, and who they consider family.

I'm excited to read the rest of this story and see how it all turns out. In these brief few chapters, I got a strong sense that both Kate and Lauren will, for different reasons, be willing to hear Jess out and accept her into their family. But I wonder, does Jess pose a danger beyond upsetting the memory of the girls' late father?
