This was unlike anything I've read recently. It almost feels like a Western, which I've never read before. The Good Luck Girls follows five girls trapped at a Welcome House, where they have been sold into prostitution/slavery by their family in hopes of a "better life".

When Clementine accidentally murders a man, her sister Aster is determined for them to escape before his death is discovered. In order to do this, they'll bring along their friends Mallow and Tansy, as well as the mistress's favorite, Violet, who claims of someone known as Lady Ghost who can help them. The five must navigate the wilds of Arketta, and travel across the country pursued by evil men to find freedom.

I loved the sisterly bond between Aster and Clementine. It was so sweet and supportive. Aster is the main narrator, and she could definitely be described as prickly and unlikable. Which is exactly why I LOVED her! She doesn't trust easily and she's determined to do anything to keep Clementine safe. As the group of girls continues on their way, they realize they'll need money to pay for their favors (cursed tattoos) to be removed. After their experiences in the Welcome House, they are determined to pay back the brags for their awful treatment. They begin to rob the brags they find on the road.

These girls were smart and creative. I loved their little heists! When they put their heads together, they were basically unstoppable. There's also an F/F relationship within the group; however, romance is never the focus of the book. It's all about adventure and freedom. The ending threw a pretty massive curveball and I cannot wait to see what Aster will do in the second book!
