I thoroughly enjoyed this ARC and the opportunity to review it here. This isn't a happy story, but there are triumphant moments leading up to the end. I think it's designed so that readers at least feel satisfied with what does happen and ties up the major loose ends.

The story setting wasn't gritty for its own sake, and enough details were there to make Arketta and the Scab feel alive...or at least undead. ;) When the action was front and center, it kept my attention. But there are a few apots in the novel where the pacing lost its footing, so to speak.

Initially, I wanted to hear from the other characters - after all, the title is Good Luck Girls, plural. Would additional perspectives add to the story without changing the original intent? Eh, I'm not sure. Reading chapter after chapter of Aster's PoV didn't get stale because she was finding direction. And I did get a glimpse of the others' lives before they set off on their journey. I thought that there would be more to do with the different types of ghosts in the Scab. However, the human element is key to the story Good Luck Girls tells, which is where the author shines. I loved where Aster's story went, it just made sense.
