I enjoyed this unique story from this debut author! I didn't like the cover because I'm not a fan of anything "western", but the story behind the cover was very interesting. The premise was free of the usual tropes seen in fantasy books and featured a cast of "sisters", one two of which were actually blood related. They are connected by the brothel in which they were brought up and escape in search of a witch who is believed to be able to rid them of their markings--a tell-tale sign of their status as "Good Luck Girls".
The story is tightly plotted, following Aster as she leads the others through dangerous lands over several weeks in search of the witch and a new life of freedom. The story provided a satisfying ending.
