This book!
I thought going in the subject matter would be too dark, but this story had so much adventure. These girls are totally BA and they are not taking nothing from no one anymore. GLG is a bit of a western cowboy story mixed with a runaway story...it reminded me of a gem of black cinema: Gang of Roses. Strong black girls on a mission to seek revenge, freedom, and happiness.
I actually cried a bit at the end...I felt like I’d been on this ride with Zee the Luckers. I absolutely loved this book from top to bottom. I can see this one becoming a book I reread. I can’t wait to see more from Ms. Davis in the future!
