The synopsis didn't interest me at all. It seemed rather bland, which matches the cover. I thought it was a bit bland too. The excerpt started out okay, and even though I was expecting it, Eliza finding her mother dead felt rushed and a bit out of place. So I wasn't charmed by the opening chapter. And then everything seemed to fit together a bit too well in the next chapter - she loses her job and apartment . . . on the same day and that's the day her godmother just also happens to call her to offer her an out. Too convenient. I'm not sure where this story is going but it felt too rushed, too neat in the first chapters. I might check this out from the library if I happened to see it, but it's not a book I'd seek out.
