I normally wouldn't pick up a book centered around thin girls with eating disorders as I don't feel it's something that I can relate to. (This is also the only book I've read of this topic, so some of the plot may be stereotypical, but it was new to me.) However, I found I myself feeling so much for Anna by the end of it.

I liked the unique style this book was written in, but by the time I was 100 pages in I was mentally screaming at Anna to complete a thought. I'm sure that was intentional though as someone with annorexia is already exhausted trying to stay alive. I do think that there were too many story lines in Anna's background that weren't fleshed out enough and would have prefered that some of these be abandoned in favor of developing other story lines/characters more. I understand that all of these are there to make her a more complete person, but I'm left wanting to know more about Philippe and confused about how many girls are at 17 Swann St. (Chloe? Katerina?)

This book would've been 3 stars for the plot and character development, but is getting 4 stars for making me feel so damn much.
