There are not enough words to say how I feel about this book. First, the writing style is absolutely gorgeous. It’s poetic, and dark, yet hopeful. I could not believe that this was the author’s debut novel.

17 Swann Street is a home for girls that are suffering from severe eating disorders. They have to follow strict diet plans and schedules (that are shown at chapter breaks) Throughout the book, you are following the main character, a young newly wed, but you also get to intimately know the other residents in the home.

Reminiscent of Girl, Inturrupted, The Girls at 17 Swann Street is one of those books that will sit with me for many years to come and is one that I will recommend to others as well.
