The chocolate went first, then the cheese, the fries, the ice cream. The bread was more difficult, but if she could just lose a little more weight, perhaps she would make the soloists’ list. Perhaps if she were lighter, danced better, tried harder, she would be good enough. Perhaps if she just ran for one more mile, lost just one more pound.

This book was amazing. Not only does it delve into the emotional aspects of having an eating disorder, but it does a great job of illuminating the biological aspects as well. We see both the internal and external struggles that occur. Chapters 62 and 63 were especially powerful. I loved this book from the first page!
The style of writing made it extremely easy to devour this book. I am a huge fan of free verse and always push these books to the top of my list.
This is one of my favorite books that I will recommend often to others!
