What a powerful debut from Yara Zgheib! The Girls at 17 Swann Street is a haunting tale that follows Anna and her painful battle with anorexia nervosa. At 26 years old, Anna enters the medical treatment center at 17 Swann Street, weighing in at only 88 pounds. Anna and the other patients at the facility are all struggling with eating disorders and have complicated relationships with food. The reader receives a realistic glimpse at how the disease can take over one’s life and impact the loved ones surrounding them. This novel really opened my eyes and provided so much awareness to this mental illness.
Zgheib’s writing is so poetic and flawless. The novel flows very smoothly and reads like a memoir. I was immediately captivated by the writing style and found the novel extremely difficult to put down. This is a beautifully written story about a very serious subject.
A HUGE thank you to St. Martin’s Press for sending advance reader copies for my entire book club to enjoy! We all loved this book and appreciate the opportunity to read and discuss this spectacular debut as a group. We had a lot to talk about at our meeting last week. This novel releases on February 5th! Get it on your TBR now! Four captivating stars! 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
