Reading this story was completely and entirely haunting, the poetic and sparse style really contributed to the way that the reader had to piece together the action. The use of italics was really interesting, and definitely disorienting at first, but as the story progressed it became easier to decipher. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart there are a lot of detailed discussions of eating disordered and disordered eating patterns so be aware of that before going into this book. The poetic language provided some distance from what the characters were experiencing so that helped a lot with being able to read it. Anna as a main character seemed like a nice double entendre considering many shorten anorexia as a sort of nickname. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but I think that it was an interesting detail regardless.
