I really enjoyed this sequel and the development of the world. Arden did a great job of avoiding common sequel problems by changing the setting to the city of Moscow from the edge of Russian wilderness, and the overall plot is very different from that of the previous book. We got to see much more of Vasya and her siblings Sasha and Olga, and their relationship was developed. I really enjoyed the interactions between Vasya and the other new/returning characters as well, and the writing never came off as anachronistic. There were tantalizing developments between Morozko and Vasya as well, and I'm excited to see where their relationship ends up in the next book. The only part that really bothered me was the ending. The reveals were not as well foreshadowed and it felt a bit rushed and anticlimactic. Nevertheless, I still really enjoyed this book and can't wait to get my hands on the third (and final) book in this trilogy!
