I love The Bear and the Nightengale beyond measure, so to say I am excited for this one is an understatement. However, it can be hard starting back into a favorite series a year later. However, I really didn’t have problems with this one. First I was at 6 pages.. and then 28. I’m not even sure I either read the pages or lived them. An hour later and I’m typing this now. I see a bright start for this series, with the beautiful and almost lyrical writing and rich description as myth, fantasy, and reality combine. The best part of Nightengale was watching so many different things be woven into a singular tapestry. After all, in this time period depicted, stories are what are told around the fire and myths are created in isolation. The amount of research and knowledge put into these is beyond commendable and shows through already, as Olga’s story alone proves that. I cannot wait to read the full story.
