This book was pretty good but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book. I enjoy the series as a whole because it is very different. It is a fantasy series that incorporates a lot of accurate Russian folklore into it. I love reading about different types of folklore and mythology in general. And I like when the stories are kept true. I want to read and enjoy the story itself while also learning something.
In general, I don't think Katherine Arden is a fantastic writing. She is a pretty average wordsmith. But her story is good and well thought out for sure. I think anyone with a connection to Russian or other Slavic countries would enjoy it and should give it a shot. It's worth a read, but not a reread.
