The second installment in the series this book does not suffer from second book syndrome.

Vasya is all grown up and dressed like a boy. She travels the forests and explores the world in her disguise since it can keep her a little safer since it is still dangerous and cruel place to wander especially as a girl.

A lot more action is packed into this sequel. Where the first installment relied on the fairy tales to build the story this relied on further character development as the action unfolded. It was interesting to see the familial relationships get acquainted with each other again and lack of trust within their relationships with all the secrets being built up.

Vasya continued to be a fun heroine to follow
