The sequel to Katherine Arden's incredible bestseller The Bear and the Nightingale, The Girl in the Tower, is just as beautiful--if not more beautiful--than its predecessor. I loved Vasya and the setting of the first book, but it was this book where I truly fell in love with her and her incredibly strong, powerful, and inspiring character.

I've really enjoyed where Arden is taking this plot line. I like that Vasya refuses to give up and really pushes the plot forward with her decisions. And, of course, there is Morozko, the Frost Demon, one of the most fascinating characters in this entire trilogy so far. I love his role and relationship with Vasya and I really love how Arden has progressed their relationship in an understandable and rational manner.

I really can't go into too many details here because anything I say could give away spoilers for the first book, but suffice to say that this is a stunning sequel that does not suffer in the least from sophomore slump and I encourage everyone to read this trilogy!
