A great continuation from the first novel " The Girl in the Tower" sets the tone for its upcoming finale. In this tale, Vasilisa is now faced with what seems is the impossible and has to make a decision that will not only impact her life but all that she knows. She chooses not marriage or the convent that has been told were her choices but life outside her village and vows to make things right for her country. In this novel does the world-building continue and sense of magic expand further than initially introduced. We see the consequences to Vasilisa's choices and what she will have to endure if taken. I enjoyed his novel very much and read the conclusion soon after. I highly recommend this!
