After having read the first in this series - I love the way the author manages to take the stories that are familiar to Russia, and bring them to our eyes. From the first moments of the girl riding in the snow, the descriptions bring forward an emotion and visualization that allows readers to see the story as it unfolds. Additionally, the complexity of character names feels daunting at first, but each arrives with an intention and an emotion that surrounds them, adding depth and layers to the story. A wonderfully intriguing series that uses the otherworldly feel of cover art, fairy tales and the author's ability to work them all into a story about a girl that engages sympathy, empathy and curiosity.
