Book summary enticing, preview not so much

Book summary enticing, preview not so much. Reading the summary gave me high hopes that this would be an exciting read. The preview given is making me reconsider that. I am going to assume the book starts off slow and picks up pace. Reading the preview felt like trudging through meter high snow in a snowstorm.
This seems like a borrow from the library first book.
